Practice Your Learning

Action Learning in a team involves solving real issues and implementing own solutions. In doing so, the team needs learning beyond the programmed knowledge (that is already in use), the questioning skills and ability to use each other as resource and find answers is key to solution.

PYL is a series of interventions offered by Pegasus to initiate organisation wide learning and lead change. To start with the participating teams undergo an experiential learning programme to understand Action Learning, acquire the necessary skills to learn by doing. Pegasus helps participants to connect their learning in the programme to their real work place issues. The teams make their own Team Action Plans (TAPs) at end of the programme that they would like to address in their work place. Experience shows that the process has to be owned and sustained by a process owner. Every team needs a coach who can handhold them to complete the task. Pegasus develops the coach and guides the process owners to succeed in the task or project.

The various tasks or projects carried out by the different teams have a cumulative effect of change and it is necessary to track them and lead change to desired state. Surveys, interviews and group discussions are carried out to sense the trends in actions (TAPs) and classify them as ‘catalysts’ of change, ‘nourishers’ of change, ‘inhibitors’ of change and ‘toxins’ that reverse change. Change can be led by emphasising all catalysts, encouraging nourishers, reducing inhibitors and eliminating toxins. Lead indicators are inferred from these actions and the top managers who are leading change are advised action accordingly.
